Judging: Best Dressed and Best Suited, Derby Day
What will you be looking for in entrants?
I’ll be looking for looks that balance creativity, cohesion, and Derby Day traditions with a fashion-forward sensibility. Beautiful proportions, quality fabrics, interesting textures and considered accessories are key. For me, it’s not about making the boldest statement, but the subtle design details and thoughtful styling that elevate a look.
What do you love most about Fashions on the Field?
I love that Fashions on the Field celebrates fashion as self-expression. It’s one of the few occasions when people truly embrace the art of dressing up, and I love seeing the creativity, individuality, and attention to detail that go into every look.
Any advice for anyone thinking of entering?
Stay true to your personal style. A cohesive, beautifully considered look with impeccable finishing can be far more impactful than something extravagant. Millinery is essential, and it should complement and elevate the entire look. For Derby Day, avoid an even split of black and white. Let one colour dominate for a more sophisticated result. For other race days, however, experiment with unexpected colour combinations rather than dressing in a single shade. Above all, wear your look with confidence.
Your next great race-day look could already be in your wardrobe.
