The Remix presented by Rack It Club — a new Fashions on the Field competition for the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) today announced an exciting new addition to the Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field presented by Lexus program with The Remix set to debut on TAB Champions Stakes Day, Saturday 7 November.

The Remix presented by Rack It Club strengthens the VRC’s commitment to making racing fashion both accessible and aspirational. It invites seasoned entrants and newcomers to take part without the pressure of purchasing something new — encouraging racegoers to rediscover pieces in their wardrobe, borrow from a friend or choose a pre-loved gem. By championing racewear that can be re-worn, adapted and re-imagined, The Remix highlights thoughtful style and the growing influence of sustainable fashion choices.

Designed for the modern racewear enthusiast, The Remix brings these principles to life through Re-wear, Rework and Restyle, inviting racegoers to select their category — Best Dressed or Best Suited — and reinterpret traditional racewear in fresh, imaginative ways.

The Remix presented by Rack It Club offers prize packages valued at more than $10,000 for each winner, including a TCL TV package, two tickets to the Smirnoff Sky Deck in The Elms to watch FISHER after the last race on TAB Champions Stakes Day, plus Rack It Club vouchers and rack rentals. With the addition of The Remix category, the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field prize pool across all four days now exceeds $360,000.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers said the new competition reflects the move toward conscious, modern racewear and invites a broader audience to take part.

“The Remix brings a fresh, dynamic spirit to Fashions on the Field. It reflects the shift toward conscious fashion and celebrates the individuality that defines today’s style makers.

TAB Champions Stakes Day is already one of our most young and vibrant race days, and The Remix will give racegoers an exciting new stage to show how they re-wear, rework and restyle racewear in innovative and expressive ways.” Rogers said.

“We want Fashions on the Field to feel more accessible than ever. You don’t need a new wardrobe or a big budget — a favourite outfit reimagined; a borrowed piece or a clever pre-loved find can be all you need to create a standout look.”

The Remix presented by Rack It Club invites entrants to embrace one or more of the competition’s three guiding principles:

  • Re-wear — celebrating circularity through vintage, rental or archival fashion, and the art of giving garments a second life.

  • Rework — spotlighting upcycling, customisation and innovative design techniques that transform existing pieces into something new.

  • Restyle — encouraging a modern interpretation of racewear through personal style, creativity and unexpected combinations.

Rack It Club, founded in 2024 by Alice James and Kelsey Monaghan, has quickly become one of Melbourne’s most dynamic and popular circular-fashion destinations. With four physical stores across the city, Rack It Club offers sellers a dedicated space to declutter their wardrobes, earn money from pre-loved clothing and accessories, and embrace sustainable shopping without the price tag.

Alice James and Kelsey Monaghan, Co-founders of Rack It Club, said they are thrilled to partner with the VRC for the inaugural competition, reinforcing a shared commitment to circular fashion and accessible style.

“Partnering with the VRC for The Remix is an exciting moment for Rack It Club.

Our community is built on circular fashion and the joy of giving garments a second life, and this competition brings those values to the forefront.

I’m excited to see racegoers re-wear, rework and restyle their wardrobes in ways that feel both imaginative and intentional,” James said.

“The Remix perfectly reflects what Rack It Club stands for — giving people the confidence to express themselves sustainably and with style. TAB Champions Stakes Day is the ideal stage for showcasing how circular fashion can be bold, modern and fun. I can’t wait to see the incredible looks people create.” Monaghan said.

The Remix competition is open to all racegoers attending TAB Champions Stakes Day, with entry via the dedicated registration site located next to the fashions pavilion.

The Remix competition joins the established categories for the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival - Best Dressed, Best Suited, Emerging Designer and the Lillian Frank AM MBE Millinery Award.
