Meet Jill Humphries: 2026 Fashions on the Field Judge

30 October 2026 • Written by VRC

Milliner Jill Humphries won the Fashions on the Field Millinery Award in 2014 and has reached the final with every entry since, finishing as runner-up in 2023 and 2024. Her clients have included Delta Goodrem and Francesca Cumani, and in 2019 she became the first international milliner in Fenwick’s Royal Ascot hat collection.

Judging: Best Dressed, Derby Day; Best Suited, Best Dressed and Millinery, Cup Day; Best Suited, Oaks Day

What will you be looking for in entrants?

The top entrants will have a cohesive racewear look with no detail overlooked. Sometimes the smallest thing can be the difference between runner-up and winner. But above all, the entrant has to look comfortable, confident, and totally own the look.

What do you love most about Fashions on the Field?

I’m so excited to be back judging. Every year the fashions exceed my expectations. It is like a fashion wonderland where we wait to see the incredible outfits. It puts Melbourne centre stage in fashion and shows the world what immaculate racing style looks like. Being a part of that is truly special.

Any advice for anyone thinking of entering?

Your smile and confidence are key. As judges, we’re excited to see your style, and we’re here to support and encourage you. We want you to succeed! So practice that smile, keep your shoulders back, feel great, and have your moment.

Your next great race-day look could already be in your wardrobe.

Give pre-loved fashion its moment in the spotlight at Fashions on the Field: The Remix, presented by Rack It Club, on TAB Champions Stakes Day, Saturday 7 November. With two categories – Best Dressed: The Remix and Best Suited: The Remix.

Rewear, rework or restyle a look that tells your story, then take to the stage and show Flemington how it’s done.
