VRC Standish Handicap Race Day

We experienced the excitement of the VRC Standish Handicap Race Day, a new highlight on the summer racing calendar.

The centrepiece of the day was the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m), with the winner earning automatic entry into the prestigious Group 1 Yulong Stud Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on Super Saturday, Saturday, 9 March 2024.

This race day was a tribute to former VRC Chairman Captain Frederick Standish, marking its inaugural appearance as a standalone event in the summer racing calendar.

In collaboration with the Victorian Jockeys Association (VJA), the VRC proudly dedicated the VRC Standish Handicap Race Day to honoring our jockeys. The VJA, representing registered jockeys and former jockeys in Victoria, works towards ensuring optimal industry conditions and support for jockeys to sustain safe, productive, and enduring careers in the racing industry.
