VRC extends partnership with Living Legends

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is proud to announce the extension of its backing of Living Legends for the next three years, with the Club’s support dating back to its official opening in 2006.

Living Legends was established to foster the connection between the community and the champions of the turf, promoting life after racing for all racehorses.

The partnership will see the champion horses from Living Legends continue their appearances at nearly every Flemington race day, interacting with racegoers and parading in the Mounting Yard, as well as attending many of the VRC’s events and media engagements.

It provides an opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with former champions of the turf, including a number of Lexus Melbourne Cup winners such as Prince of Penzance, Almandin, Twilight Payment, Brew and Efficient.

In 2019, the VRC established its Equine Wellbeing Fund to support initiatives that champion the wellbeing of racehorses across all stages of their lives, and Living Legends is just one organisation the club supports through the fund's proceeds.

VRC Chief Executive Officer, Steve Rosich said the club was thrilled to continue its support of Living Legends.

“As a not-for-profit organisation, Living Legends relies on support from the community to continue its valuable work of caring for the horses that touched the hearts of millions, and we are proud to continue our partnership with this important organisation”.

“The love of the horse is at the heart of everything we do at the VRC, and we know that racegoers will relish the continued opportunity to interact with the Living Legends at Flemington race days over the next three years.”

Living Legends CEO Andrew Clarke echoed the importance of the VRC’s contribution to the organisation.

“The VRC has been by our side since our earliest days. Their unwavering support has been a significant factor in making Living Legends what it is today”.

“We're thrilled with the announcement that this strong partnership will continue, as we work together to nurture the deep connection between the community and our legendary racehorses and promote life after racing for all horses”.

The VRC will continue to support Living Legends financially over the next three years, showcasing two equine Legends at every race day at Flemington outside of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
