Victoria Racing Club Board Election Result and Annual General Meeting 2025

17 December 2025 Written by VRC

Victoria Racing Club (VRC) directors Peter Murray, Ann Peacock, and Allison Purdey were declared elected without ballot and re-appointed to the Board, at the Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.

VRC Chairman Neil Wilson said, "As we bring 2025 to a close following our Annual General Meeting yesterday afternoon, where incumbent directors, Peter Murray, Ann Peacock, and Allison Purdey were declared elected without ballot and re-appointed to the Board, I thank our members for their continued support of the Victoria Racing Club throughout the year.

"It has been a year of significant achievement for our Club. The 2025 Melbourne Cup Carnival was a resounding success, with over 286,000 people attending across the four days – the highest attendance since 2018. Broadcast numbers were impressive, with the Lexus Melbourne Cup increasing 9% year-on-year for total TV reach, and a total audience over 2 million for the first time since 2018.

"We are encouraged by the strong engagement from younger audiences, with 53% of general admission tickets purchased throughout the Carnival by those aged 35 and under, a figure that reached 66% on TAB Champions Stakes Day. This is a clear demonstration that our sport has a bright and sustainable future.

"Financially, the Club has made important progress, with our 2024/25 results showing a $17.9 million improvement and an EBITDA profit of $12 million. Combined with growth in commercial partnerships, our media rights agreement with TAB and the Nine Network, and record membership numbers, we have established a strong platform for continued improvement, and I am confident that we have both the roadmap and the momentum to continue this positive trajectory with the valued support of our partners, Racing Victoria, and the Victorian government."
