Statement from Victoria Racing Club Chairman Neil Wilson – Dean Holland

Our hearts and thoughts go out to Dean’s family, friends and fellow jockeys. Dean’s passing will be felt deeply by the wider racing industry. 

Dean was a familiar face in the winner’s circle at Flemington and we will forever remember his brilliant ride to win the 2023 Newmarket Handicap aboard In Secret. 

Racing Victoria has determined in conjunction with the Victorian Jockeys Association that both race meetings scheduled for Victoria tomorrow, which includes Flemington, will not proceed out of respect to Dean and the Holland family. 

A further update on the re-programming on ANZAC Day Race Day at Flemington will be advised in due course.
