Daring style defines Best Suited finalists on Cup Day

Colour was at the forefront in the Best Suited competition on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, where a vibrant spectrum of shades appeared alongside a playful nod to trends such as a cowboy theme. This year’s runway proved that suits can be as expressive as they are elegant, with finalists showcasing individuality through bold colour, texture, and detail. From sunglasses to gloves, tie pins to brooches, accessories became an art form, adding polish and personality to every look.

The three finalists progressing to Crown Oaks Day showcased creativity and confidence in equal parts.

Domingo Martinez, a former winner who works in finance, sees fashion as his way of expressing himself. His hat, a blend of three designs, was paired with a red suit with white accents, short leather gloves, and a matching bag – creating a bold, unified statement.

Multiple-time winner Sherlon Garbo demonstrated cultural storytelling with raffia. His sculptural hat, red blazer with white lapels, and a turquoise shirt and white tie embodied theatrical tailoring, while a raffia-fringed bag and polka-dot flower softened the structured look.

Tyrone Cannon turned heads in lime green, complemented by brown details on his suit, shoes, and leather bag. His overall look paid homage to the formality of racewear while capturing the fun and imagination that define Flemington style.

Together, the trio exemplified the evolution of modern suiting – bold, personal, and distinctive.
