Cracking edition of the G3 Aurie's Star Handicap. WAR MACHINE (1) is the class of the field on resumption. He was sent out $1.30 first up last time in but pulled up lame and didn't really fire after a busy Winter/Spring campaign. His best - a G1 Stradbroke winner and dominant winner with 60kg in a G2 Gilgai here says he's the one to beat. Stablemate ARKANSAW KID (2) is a top horse himself. He goes well fresh and likes the straight having won a G2 Bobbie Lewis here beating STAR PATROL (3) in the Spring. Arkansaw Kid was third-up there while Star Patrol was first up off a long spell. Star Patrol has had his issues and is fresh again here but very good on his day and gets in well. NDOLA (5) led at an absolute crawl here fresh, he can sit just off them and show his turn of foot again. ROYAL INSIGNIA (8) is building nicely and can get into the finish again.
