How long have you been a VRC Member?
I have been a member since 2011, but was a regular guest before this with friends from 2004.
What, or who, got you involved in the sport of Horse Racing?
My dad was a punter, so I watched racing from a young age. I used to go with him to the Moonee Valley races and the Showground Trots.
Do you own any shares in racehorses at the moment?
My wife has microshares in 2 horses with MyRacehorse ('Bold Strike' and 'Platinum Pearl'). We are in a Syndicate with friends and have a share in 2 other horses that will hopefully run this preparation - 'Yes Maxi' with Ben Brisbourne, and 'Waggish' with Clayton Douglas. Waggish is the daughter of our first horse, 'Baja Moon'.
What is your most memorable win on a racehorse?
'Pride of Jenni' in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2024. Brilliant front running win against some pretty handy horses (Via Sistina and Mr Brightside).
Who is your favourite racehorse over the years?
Mighty Kingdom, Vo Rogue, So You Think, and Black Caviar were a few favourite horses.
Do you have a favourite jockey or trainer that you always follow on a race day?
Simon Zahra, L & T Corstems, Joe Pride, Billy Egan, Jarrod Fry, Celine Gaudray and Blake Shinn.
What would be your favourite memory of Flemington?
Spring Carnival because we go with the same friends. This year will be a special memory because it’s our 50th Wedding Anniversary on Stakes Day (I’m sure my dad had a radio earpiece listening to the races during our wedding).
